Residents Of Kete Community Benefit From Free Health Screening By Kete Muslims Youth Association
Nearly 300 residents of Kete Community in the Krachi West Municipality and its environs have benefited from a free health screening exercise by the Kete Muslims Youth Association with Human Resources support from the Muslim Health workers Association of Ghana.
The exercise formed part of the social responsibility of the association to give back to both their members and residents in its areas of operation.
Patrons were screened for diabetes, eye ailments, malaria, blood pressure, hepatitis B and C, cervical screening, and HIV among others.

Held simultaneously, the beneficiaries were screened and given free medication, while those identified with complications were referred to appropriate health facilities for further diagnoses and care.
The Head of the medical team of the Kete Muslims Youth Association, Hisham Osman, after the exercise in Kete-Krachi , said nearly 300 people were screened of which some were hypertensive, diabetic, others tested positive for malaria, and eye allergy.
However, he said the majority of them were deemed generally safe.
He said all those with symptoms were given medications while others were given medical advice to prevent their conditions from getting worsening.
He commended the Kete Muslims Youth association for this timely intervention attending to the health needs of its members and the communities at large.
The Executive coordinator, Umar Sualihu explained that the exercise was in line with the association’s social responsibility in supporting their community.
The Branch chairman of the association at the Kete branch , Alhaji Umar Baba Labaran , added that “this is not going to be the last time, it will be replicated in every quarter to give healthcare to the community members, he added.
Sometimes some of them find it difficult to visit the hospitals because they cannot leave their businesses, so with this, it helps them and the impact on the society is big”.
The social responsibility activity was fully funded by the association had the participants screened for eye ailments, blood pressure, hepatitis B&C, diabetes, malaria etc.

The beneficiaries of whom majority are residents of Kete expressed joy and stated that they hardly get the time to go for medical check-ups due to their activities, and heaped praises on the association for such intervention.
They said sometimes they report to hospitals with different ailments and conditions which usually scares them.
A resident, Ayisha Sulemana said she and her colleagues have benefitted from the screening exercise as they have been given medications and advice on their health conditions at their comfort.
