A 32-year-old Ghanaian filmmaker, Israel Agbo Forson, has been arrested by the Ghana Police Service after a viral video showed him threatening to shoot police officers during what appeared to be a traffic stop.
Forson was apprehended on Monday, June 23, 2025, in a coordinated intelligence-led operation at his residence in North Legon, Accra. The arrest came just days after footage of the incident circulated widely on social media, sparking public outcry and concern over the safety of law enforcement officers.
In a statement released by the Regional Public Affairs Unit, the police confirmed Forson’s arrest and described his actions as a serious threat to public order and an affront to law enforcement authority.
“The Ghana Police Service once again condemns in the strongest terms acts of incitement, threats, and obstruction against law enforcement officers,” the statement said.
The video, which captured Forson in a heated confrontation with officers, drew swift condemnation from both the public and the police service, which emphasized that such conduct would not go unpunished.
“Such behaviour will not be tolerated and offenders will be dealt with in accordance with the law,” the statement continued.
Superintendent Juliana Obeng, Head of Public Affairs for the Accra Region, signed the release, which also urged citizens to remain cooperative when interacting with police personnel.
The police reminded the public to channel any grievances through legal means, encouraging peaceful engagement and lawful dispute resolution.
Israel Agbo Forson has since been granted police enquiry bail and is currently assisting investigators. As of now, no formal charges have been filed, but the investigation remains ongoing, according to a report.
