Ghana’s National Tripartite Committee (NTC) has approved a nine percent upward adjustment to the National Daily Minimum Wage for 2026, setting it at GH¢21.77.
The announcement followed a meeting held in Accra on Sunday, November 9, 2025, in accordance with Section 113(1)(a) of the Labour Act, 2003 (Act 651).
In a statement, the NTC explained that the new rate reflects careful consideration of economic conditions, the rising cost of living, and the need to maintain both business viability and employment growth.
Effective January 1, 2026, all employers whose current daily wages fall below the new minimum are required to adjust their pay structures. The Committee warned that noncompliance would attract penalties as stipulated by law.
Additionally, the NTC proposed that the revised 2026 National Daily Minimum Wage be exempt from taxation to ensure that workers fully enjoy the benefits of the wage increase.
