Shatta Wale Predicts Global Breakthrough for Ghana Music in 10 Years

Shatta Wale

Shatta Wale is projecting a strong future for Ghana’s creative space, insisting that within the next 10 years the country’s music industry could stand shoulder to shoulder with the best in the world, provided the right foundations are strengthened.

Speaking in conversation with media personality Bola Ray, the Shatta Movement leader argued that progress will depend less on talent alone and more on how stakeholders relate and work together. In his view, the missing link has been a consistent business mindset and clearer communication across the industry.

“I think with a collective mindset and attitude, in 10 years’ time, Ghana music is going to be one of the top-notch industries in the world. I just feel we need a little bit of communication and understanding,” he said.

On the question of backing for musicians, the “Melissa” hitmaker pointed to fans as the most reliable support system the industry currently has. According to him, audience loyalty has carried much of the weight so far.

He also stressed that there is goodwill from political leaders who appreciate music, but suggested that the responsibility partly lies with artistes in how they engage with those in power. That relationship, he believes, can influence the level of institutional support the industry receives.

“I would say the support is coming from the people. The fans are playing their role and I tell most of my colleagues that there are ministers and presidents that love music, they love musicians. So, it’s our attitude towards them that will make them support us,” he averred.

He further reflected on conversations he has had with influential figures, expressing optimism that understanding between the industry and decision-makers will gradually improve. For him, that long view also comes with a sense of responsibility to future artistes.

“I’ve had a few conversations with top-notch people and I feel gradually they’re going to understand. That’s why sometimes I feel I need to sacrifice whatever so the next generation can benefit.”

Shifting attention to his upcoming Shatta Fest concert in London scheduled for August 1, 2026, he described the event as a moment of celebration and spiritual expression, urging fans to expect an energetic and uplifting experience.

“Well, I think they should just expect positivity, shatterbration, the ‘God is here’ spirit because I’m a servant of God and I want to preach the gospel of God to the world. It’s one of the covenants I have with God that I really want God to let people know the kind of talent He’s put in me,” he stated.
