A widely shared video on social media has stirred emotion after showing Akosua Serwaa, one of the surviving wives of the late Highlife legend, Daddy Lumba, immersed in her husband’s music.
The video, posted on X on January 13, 2026, captures Akosua Serwaa Fosu during a private moment as she listens to one of the late Lumba’s classic tracks from 1994. She is currently in Ghana to coordinate a separate burial ceremony planned for March, following his burial on December 13, 2025.
At the start of the footage, she is seen softly singing along to the song “Opono Hini Me.” As the track continues, the mood shifts. The lyrics appear to overwhelm her, and she breaks down in tears, visibly struggling to contain her emotions.
Roughly a minute into the video, a close associate, Georgina Osei Bonsu, steps in to comfort her as she cries.
The video has triggered intense discussion online, drawing a range of reactions from users on X. While some questioned her actions, others came to her defense.
One user wrote, “All those disrespecting this woman, may God forgive you. Someone who even paid for some of their properties, used her documents to help Lumba in Germany, and helped the Lumba brothers release their first album, you people are insulting her? Karma is real.”
Away from social media, tensions surrounding the late musician’s legacy remain unresolved. Akosua Serwaa and Lumba’s second wife, Odo Broni, are currently locked in a legal dispute at a Kumasi High Court, with both parties contesting claims over his estate.
