GES Opens One-Week Nationwide Recruitment Drive for New Teachers

The Ghana Education Service has opened a short window to recruit fresh teachers, giving qualified graduates just one week to submit their applications as part of a nationwide effort to reinforce classrooms.

In a notice released from Accra, the Service called on trained graduates with education backgrounds and related qualifications to apply, pointing to a renewed push to close staffing gaps, especially in hard-to-reach areas.

The opportunity is open to holders of Bachelor of Education degrees as well as graduates with relevant academic training who have gone on to complete postgraduate education studies. Applicants must have also fulfilled their national service obligations and secured certification from the National Teaching Council.

Successful applicants will be expected to bring updated teaching methods into the classroom, with a strong focus on using technology and adapting lessons to suit different learning needs. The Service also highlights the importance of ongoing professional growth, ethical standards and strict compliance with national teaching guidelines.

The role places learners at the centre of instruction, urging teachers to apply diverse assessment techniques while helping students build research abilities and digital skills that reflect today’s academic demands.

Candidates are required to show strong communication skills and solid classroom control, and must be willing to accept postings in underserved districts, reinforcing efforts to spread teachers more evenly across the country.

Applications are being processed strictly online via the official GES recruitment portal. Candidates are expected to complete the required forms and upload supporting documents, including certificates, proof of national service, a valid teaching licence and identification.

The application period runs from April 10 to April 17, 2026, after which submissions will be assessed as part of broader plans to strengthen teaching capacity and raise learning standards nationwide.

The recruitment comes at a time when calls are growing for deeper investment in teacher quality and deployment, as Ghana works to keep pace with rising enrolment and the shifting demands of modern education.
