Ghanaian actress Kisa Gbekle has opened up about her discomfort with the “baby mama” label, saying it does not reflect the life she once envisioned for herself.
Speaking with Nana Romeo on UTV’s ‘Atuu’ program, the mother of one said she had always hoped to experience motherhood within marriage, and still holds on to that desire for the future.
“I love children, and I wish to have two or three more when I marry, but not out of wedlock again, because at least I already have one,” she said.
Gbekle explained that becoming a mother before marriage was never part of her plan, adding that circumstances in life took a different turn from what she had imagined.
She stressed that while she does not take pride in having a child outside marriage, she has no regrets about motherhood itself.
“I am not proud to be called a baby mama, because that wasn’t the plan for me before I had a baby. The idea was to be married and have kids, but life offers you things that sometimes you do not want, and you don’t have a choice; you can’t reject them. I am not proud, but I don’t regret being a mother. My baby has moved me from A to Z,” Kisa Gbekle stated.
Kisa also revealed that she is currently single and not actively pursuing a relationship, noting that she struggles to see what a partner would add to her life beyond intimacy.
