‘I’m Not Fake’ – Shatta Wale Responds to Stonebwoy’s Controversial Post

Shatta Wale

Shatta Wale has weighed in on the social media storm sparked by a cryptic post that many interpreted as a swipe at him and fellow rapper Sarkodie after their appearance alongside Stonebwoy and other artistes at Kweku Smoke’s concert in London.

While the post fueled intense debate online and triggered speculation among fans, the dancehall star appears unfazed by the controversy.

Speaking during a conversation with UK-based Nigerian entertainment personality Adesope Olajide, Shatta Wale dismissed suggestions that he felt targeted by the message, explaining that he saw no reason to be offended.

According to him, people who identify with such remarks are often those who see traces of themselves in the accusations being made.

“One has to be fake before they recognise another fake person,” Shatta Wale stated during the discussion.

Expanding on his point, the musician maintained that he never viewed the post as a personal attack because he does not consider himself dishonest or pretentious within the industry.

“I didn’t see anything wrong with it, and I didn’t take it personal. I’m not fake. I show real love to anyone I like,” he said.

Shatta Wale noted that he has consistently supported and shown appreciation to artistes and industry players he values, regardless of differing opinions, rivalries, or industry dynamics.

Apart from addressing the controversy, he turned attention to what he believes is a more pressing issue within Ghana’s music scene: unity among its leading figures.

The award-winning artiste argued that the industry would benefit if influential names such as himself, Sarkodie, Stonebwoy, and Samini focused on collaboration rather than lingering differences.

He stressed that persistent narratives about feuds and tensions among top musicians have become excessive and do little to advance the growth and international appeal of Ghanaian music.
