Ghanaian actor Big Akwes has revealed that he would gladly pursue Florence Obinim, the wife of Bishop Daniel Obinim, if their marriage eventually comes to an end.
The actor made the statement while reacting to the growing public conversation surrounding issues involving the couple’s relationship, accusing Bishop Obinim of damaging his wife’s image through his public comments.
In a video shared on social media on June 15, 2026, Big Akwes said he was disappointed by what he described as public attacks against Florence, arguing that marital matters should be handled privately to protect both parties.
“If Obinim leaves Florence, I will accept her. He doesn’t know what he has and he’s busily disgracing her publicly. If he doesn’t love her anymore, he should say it so that Florence can be free,” he said.
He further claimed that making negative statements about Florence could affect her future relationships, insisting that he would still be interested in her if the marriage ends.
“Disgracing her and telling lies about her so that at the end of the day, when he leaves her, no one would go for her. I’m telling Obinim that if he makes the mistake and leaves his wife, I would go for her,” he added.
Big Akwes explained that his admiration for Florence Obinim is not new, describing her as someone he has admired for a long time. However, he said he deliberately stayed away because she was married.
“She has always been my crush and I admired her so much, but I didn’t know how to go about it. Whatever someone has, we don’t have to snatch it from the person by force. Since Florence Obinim is still his wife, I can’t go and tell her that I’m in love with her, but the day he divorces her, I will go for her,” he shared.
The actor also called on Bishop Obinim to approach any challenges in the marriage with maturity instead of publicly discussing issues involving his wife.
“He should end the marriage in a mature way so that those who are interested can get the chance, but not embarrass her like that,” he stated.
According to Big Akwes, separation among public figures and religious leaders is not unusual, adding that Bishop Obinim would not be the first pastor to move on from a marriage.
“There are a lot of pastors who have left their wives and nothing happened. They even got married to other women too, so Obinim’s own will not be the first,” he said.
He maintained that any comments made about Florence would not change his admiration for her if she becomes single.
“He can divorce and marry another woman if he’s no longer interested in his marriage. All the things he’s saying about his wife will not discourage me from loving her,” Big Akwes stressed.
