Abeiku Santana appointed as Deputy CEO of Ghana Tourism Authority by President Mahama
President John Dramani Mahama has appointed renowned media personality, fashion entrepreneur, and cultural ambassador Abeiku Aggrey Santana as the Deputy CEO of Ghana Tourism Authority.
Santana’s extensive experience in bridging Ghana with its global diaspora highlights President Mahama’s dedication to strengthening international ties, fostering investment opportunities, and enhancing cultural and economic collaborations.
Born and educated in Ghana, Santana began his academic journey at Nana Kwaku Boateng Experimental School in Koforidua before attending Ghana National College in Cape Coast for his Ordinary Level certificate. He later earned his Advanced Level certificate at Ghana Senior High School in Koforidua.
His academic achievements include a master’s degree in Tourism Management from the University of Cape Coast, a Postgraduate Diploma in Public Administration from the Ghana Institute of Management and Public Administration (GIMPA), and an Associate degree in Legal Studies and Litigation from the New York Paralegal School. He also holds an Advanced Certificate in Public Relations and Advertising from the Ghana Institute of Journalism and is currently pursuing another master’s degree at the University of Ghana Business School (UGBS).
Santana’s career in media began as an Assistant Programs Manager at Radio Z in Koforidua before he moved to Radio Mercury, where he served as Deputy Programs Manager from 1991 to 2001. From 2001 to 2002, he was a drive-time host for Ash FM 101.1 in Kumasi.
In 2002, he joined the Multimedia Broadcasting Group as the host of Adom FM’s drive-time show Ofie Kwan So, eventually rising to the role of Head of Music Programs and Events Promotion Coordinator. In 2010, he transitioned to the Despite Media Group’s Okay FM.
Santana was also appointed an ambassador for the COVID-19 National Trust Fund.
Beyond broadcasting, he is the CEO and founder of Kaya Tours Ghana Limited and was named Ghana’s Tourism Ambassador in 2017.
In 2024, he was invited to speak at key African tourism events, including the Africa Tourism Leadership Forum in Namibia and the 8th Swahili International Tourism Expo in Tanzania, further cementing his influence in the sector.
