Richard Nii Armah Quaye Divorce Turns Contentious With Fresh Legal Rebuttals

Richard Nii-Armah Quaye

A legal dispute between businessman Richard Nii Armah Quaye and his ex-wife, Joana Coffie, has escalated into a public exchange of claims and counterclaims, with both sides’ lawyers disputing key narratives around their marriage and business history.

The tension intensified after Richard Nii Armah Quaye’s appearance on the Delay show, where he spoke about issues surrounding his divorce. His remarks were followed by a response from Joana Coffie’s legal team, who released what they described as documentary evidence highlighting her contribution to the development of his business empire.

Represented by Godfred Yeboah Dame, Joana Coffie’s lawyers maintained that she and Quaye co-founded Quick Credit & Investment Micro-Credit Company Limited in 2011, shortly after their marriage. They insist this position is backed by court records and other supporting documents.

Sory & Partners, counsel for Richard Nii Armah Quaye, fired back in a press statement dated April 28, 2026, disputing several of the claims made by Joana Coffie, including allegations touching on his financial standing and accusations of abuse.

The firm rejected the assertion that Quaye returned from the United Kingdom in 2009 without employment or assets, arguing that the claim is inconsistent with findings of the High Court.

“…Your claim that our client was unemployed and had no property which he currently owns upon his return to the country in 2009 is not borne out by the judgment of the High Court, your statement therefore being made to simply malign our client with the public.”

They also pushed back on claims involving Quick Credit & Investment Micro-Credit Company Limited, stating that the issue of shareholding was not part of the divorce proceedings.

“…Your claim that the issue of the shareholding of Quick Credit & Investment Micro-Credit Company Limited and matters related thereto are subject matters of the divorce proceedings is also not accurate, as your client’s case and reliefs before the Court did not relate to these matters,” the statement added.

On allegations of physical abuse, the legal team firmly denied that Quaye ever assaulted his former wife, pointing to a High Court ruling that upheld a submission of no case.

“Regarding your blanket accusation of abuse of your client by our client, we reiterate that our client has consistently maintained that he has never abused your client, and this has been affirmed by the High Court when a submission of no case was upheld in its decision dated November 27, 2025,” the statement noted.

Sory & Partners further dismissed claims that Quaye had obstructed justice, describing the allegation as unfounded and speculative.
