Thomas Partey is set to return to action for Ghana after confirming he is fully fit ahead of the Black Stars’ pivotal FIFA World Cup Group L match against England.
The midfielder sat out Ghana’s opening victory over Panama but says he is now ready to play as the Black Stars look to build on their winning start and strengthen their bid to finish top of the group.
Speaking before Tuesday’s highly anticipated encounter, Partey expressed confidence in his physical condition and his ability to contribute when called upon.
“For me, now I feel okay. I’m ready to play,” Partey said, adding that Ghana’s focus is on working collectively as a team rather than relying on individual battles, including his anticipated midfield duel with England’s Declan Rice.
The former Arsenal player revealed that morale within the Ghana camp remains high following the Panama win, with players embracing the World Cup experience while maintaining their competitive edge.
Partey acknowledged England’s strength and depth but insisted Ghana are approaching the contest with belief and determination. According to him, the Black Stars are eager to test themselves against one of the tournament’s leading teams while continuing to demonstrate that they can compete at the highest level.
He also emphasized the positive atmosphere in camp, noting that the players are enjoying the World Cup experience while remaining committed to learning, competing, and giving their all for Ghana.
Ghana and England will face off at Boston Stadium (Gillette Stadium) in Foxborough, Massachusetts, on Tuesday, June 23, with kick-off scheduled for 11 pm GMT.
Following the England fixture, the Black Stars will conclude their Group L campaign against Croatia in Philadelphia on Saturday, June 27, at 9 pm GMT.
