Black Sherif Makes Gospel Case for “Sacrifice” and “Lord I’m Amazed”

Black Sherif

Black Sherif is making a case for his music to be seen through a different lens, one that leans into faith and reflection rather than just mainstream categorisation.

During a conversation on Onua Showtime with Nana Ama McBrown, the Ghanaian artist leaned into the spiritual undertones of his work, arguing that two of his records belong in the Gospel Song of the Year conversation at the Telecel Ghana Music Awards. The discussion took shape when McBrown pointed out that “Sacrifice” carries a strong gospel feel, an observation he did not hesitate to affirm.

The moment quickly gathered momentum when blogger and industry voice Kobby Kyei, who was part of the panel, suggested that “Sacrifice” deserved a nomination. Black Sherif took it a step further, naming another track he believes fits the same space.

“Yeah, and ‘Lord I’m Amazed,'” he said.

Both songs appear on his sophomore album ‘Iron Boy,’ which arrived on April 3, 2025, and showcase a more introspective side of the artist. He has described “Lord I’m Amazed” as his “prayer and testimony,” a record that fuses gospel-style melodies with deeply personal storytelling.

Beyond the conversation, the audience response has been significant. “Lord I’m Amazed” has pulled in over 5.1 million views on YouTube, while “Sacrifice” has surged past 13 million views. On streaming platforms, the impact is just as clear, with “Sacrifice” standing as the most streamed song on Spotify Ghana for 2025.
