MASLOC Workers Cry Over Unpaid Salaries

The employees of the Microfinance and Small Loans Centre (MASLOC) nationwide are distressed over the non-payment of their January 2024 salaries and express doubts about receiving their February salaries.

In interviews with First News, some staff members, who chose to remain anonymous, described their current situation as dire.

One staff member lamented, “You can imagine how we are living. It is not easy for us. Since January, we have not received our salary. I don’t think the President is aware of this; it is terrible, and something should be done about it immediately.”

Another aggrieved staff member questioned the fairness of their treatment, stating, “Are we not human beings just like other Ghanaian public workers? Why are we being treated this way? How do they want us to take care of our families?”

Kofi, another staff member, expressed his frustration, saying, “The Finance Minister should be summoned before parliament so that we will know why we are being treated this way.”

“This maltreatment is very bad. This is not the first time such a thing is happening to us. Last year, there were several months when we were not paid. We had to appeal several times before we were paid,” recounted another staff member.

Efforts to reach MASLOC management to ascertain the cause of the salary delay were unsuccessful.
