We have families and loved ones – Kwabena Kwabena speaks against misinformation and false news about celebrities
Ghanaian musician George Kwabena Adu, popularly known as Kwabena Kwabena, has spoken out against fake news and misinformation targeting celebrities.
In a recent interview, the ‘Tokro’ hitmaker addressed the damaging effects of false narratives, highlighting the challenges public figures face. Speaking with Giovanni Caleb on TV3, he expressed frustration over the growing trend of misinformation in the entertainment industry.
“People say things they have no idea about just to trend. It’s not right. Before you put something out there about someone, ask yourself—if this person were a family member, how would I handle it?” he remarked.
Beyond the emotional toll on loved ones, Kwabena Kwabena stressed that false information can severely impact an artiste’s career and reputation.
“We, as celebrities, have families and loved ones. When falsehoods are spread, it’s harmful—not just personally, but professionally. In this industry, our reputation is everything.
“If a brand wants to work with you, they look into your public image. Whatever is out there on the internet can make or break opportunities,” he explained.
He urged the media and content creators to exercise responsibility in their reporting, emphasizing the long-term consequences of click-driven misinformation.
“At the end of the day, you get clicks, but you’re destroying someone’s life,” he cautioned.
