Kwabena Kwabena calls for investment in Ghana’s Creative Industry

Renowned Ghanaian musician Kwabena Kwabena is calling on individuals and corporate entities to invest in the country’s creative arts sector.

In a recent interview with Giovanni Caleb on TV3, the ‘Asor’ hitmaker—born George Kwabena Adu—highlighted the lack of investment as a major challenge facing the industry.

“There’s little to no investment in our business,” he lamented. “We are appealing to individuals and corporate bodies. When an artiste reaches out, it’s because this is our livelihood. God gave us this talent to not only survive but also bring joy into your homes.”

Kwabena Kwabena also dismissed the notion that investing in the creative industry is a financial risk, arguing that strategic sponsorships can yield significant returns.

“The moment you back an artiste, you create visibility for your business,” he explained. “If the artiste is successful, your brand gains exposure, and you can easily recoup your investment.”

Reflecting on his own journey, the musician emphasized the profitability of the industry, drawing from his two decades of experience.

“This business has shaped my life and sustained everything I do,” he said. “It’s a lucrative industry—we just need to navigate it the right way.”
