Ghanaian Highlife musician Kaakyire Kwame Appiah has looked back fondly on one of the most extraordinary moments of his career, a time when adoring female fans spread their cloths on the road just so he could drive over them.

During an interview with Nana Romeo on Okay FM, the ‘Bronya’ singer revealed that he could name several towns in Ghana where this heartfelt gesture happened.

“Women used to spread their cloths for me to drive over. I can list many towns in Ghana that did that for me. They did it because my song ‘24th’ brought their children from abroad back to Ghana,” he recalled.

Kaakyire explained that his hit song “24th” was inspired by Ghanaians returning home for Christmas, and it became an anthem that united families separated for decades.

“Some of these children had been away for 20 to 30 years, and my song was their way of bringing them home, so this was their way of appreciating me. At that time, there was no social media or all that stuff, otherwise I would have trended a lot,” he stated.

The celebrated musician reflected that the overwhelming love for “24th” stands as one of the most emotional chapters of his journey, symbolizing how deeply music once bridged distances and brought Ghanaians together long before the age of digital fame.
