Tyla’s “Push 2 Start” Takes Best African Music Performance at 68th Grammys

Tyla - 67th Grammy Awards (2026 Grammys)

South African singer Tyla added another major global accolade to her fast-rising career after claiming Best African Music Performance for “Push 2 Start” at the 68th Grammy Awards (2026 Grammys). This emphasizes her growing influence on the international music stage.

The award, created to spotlight contemporary African sounds at the world’s most prominent recording industry ceremony, placed Tyla alongside a competitive field that included Burna Boy, Davido featuring Omah Lay, Eddy Kenzo with Mehran Matin, and Ayra Starr featuring Wizkid.

Her victory follows a period of heightened global attention and cements her position among Africa’s leading musical exports.

Elsewhere on the night, success tied to the African diaspora extended beyond the continent. Shaboozey emerged as the winner of Best Country Solo Performance, edging out established acts such as Tyler Childers, Chris Stapleton, Zach Top and Lainey Wilson.

The result highlighted the genre’s evolving identity, reflecting how country music continues to stretch past its traditional roots and embrace a broader range of voices and influences.

The 68th Annual Grammy Awards (2026 Grammys) took place at the Crypto.com Arena in Los Angeles on Sunday, February 1, 2026.
