“I Will Be Happy If They Nominate Me” – Black Sherif Reacts to Grammy Nomination Snub After Filing for Nomination

Black Sherif

Ghanaian artiste Black Sherif has confirmed that he submitted a nomination for the 2026 Grammy Awards.

He revealed this during an interview on Hitz FM with Kwame Dadzie and Doreen Avio.

When asked about the nomination process, Black Sherif said, “Yes, we did, we filed for African Music Performance and Global.”

He reflected on expectations surrounding a potential nomination, stating, “I will be happy if they nominate me, but like I said, it doesn’t even shift if I am not nominated. I am not touched, I am not pushed.” Despite the snub, he expressed optimism about Ghanaian artists earning Grammy recognition in the future, noting that the country’s music industry is rapidly growing.

Earlier in the interview, Black Sherif emphasized that while awards hold value, his primary focus remains on his artistry and nurturing a genuine connection with his audience.

Black Sherif is not the only Ghanaian musician who filed for a 2026 Grammy nomination. Dancehall star Shatta Wale has also reportedly submitted a nomination for consideration.

The nominees for Best African Music Performance this year include Love by Burna Boy, With You by Davido featuring Omah Lay, Hope & Love by Eddy Kenzo and Mehran Matin, Gimme Dat by Ayra Starr featuring Wizkid, and PUSH 2 START by South African artist Tyla.
