Agradaa Eyes Early Release as Lawyer Confirms New Prison Timeline

Nana Agradaa

Legal counsel for televangelist Nana Agradaa, known privately as Patricia Asiedua, says she could walk free in early March following a revision of her prison sentence by the courts.

Richard Asare Baffour disclosed in an interview on Starr FM on February 9, 2026, that the Amasaman High Court reconsidered Agradaa’s punishment and slashed her original 15-year sentence to a 12-month jail term after ruling that the earlier penalty was disproportionate.

He further broke down how Ghana’s remission policy operates within the prison system, explaining that inmates who meet specific criteria may have their sentences reduced.

“The earliest time she could come out would be the 3rd of March. That is next month. When you are handed down a prison term, there’s a remission scheme. If you earn it, the term is divided into three. So, the state will take one-third, and she takes two-thirds of it,” he explained.

Under that arrangement, Agradaa may qualify for release after completing eight months of the revised one-year sentence.

According to Baffour, the televangelist has already spent approximately seven months behind bars under the recalculated 12-month term, which takes effect from her initial conviction in July 2025. This timeline, he noted, positions March 3, 2026, as the earliest possible release date.

“So, by the 3rd of March, she should be out,” the lawyer said.

Despite the reduction, Baffour indicated that Agradaa’s legal team still has concerns about aspects of the court process. He said they uncovered procedural lapses during the trial and would have considered pursuing further legal action even if the sentencing adjustment had been marginally different.

Agradaa was found guilty in July 2025 of offences including charlatanic advertisement and defrauding by false pretence, linked to allegations that she promoted a money-doubling scheme through her ministry.

While affirming the conviction, the Amasaman High Court earlier in February opted to substantially cut down the length of her prison term.
