‘Life Is a Learning Process’ – Sefa Speaks on Pressure Faced by Young Musicians

Sefa

Ghanaian musician Sefa is urging the public to ease the pressure on up-and-coming artistes, arguing that growth in the music business cannot be rushed.

During a recent discussion on Joy Prime, she pushed back against the idea that young talents are denied opportunities in Ghana. Instead, she suggested that many simply underestimate the value of time and experience.

“I wouldn’t say grace is not extended to young artistes in Ghana, probably there would be opportunities, but they forget that they’re learning,” she said.

For Sefa, development is gradual. She emphasized that honing a craft demands patience, reflection and room to stumble along the way.

“Life is a learning process; you can’t just master something in a day. It’s more about giving everybody time and allowing people just be themselves to learn through the mistakes,” she shared.

She also addressed the weight of public criticism, noting that observers often pass judgment without grasping the realities behind the scenes.

“Sometimes people can be outside and be looking at you, saying they don’t like this or that, but you on the inside, because you haven’t made the mistake yet, you wouldn’t know that this is wrong,” she stated.

Sefa further appealed for empathy, stressing that creatives need the freedom to find their footing without constant scrutiny.

“Since it’s your life, you don’t see people from the outside, so just give people a little bit of time,” she stressed.
