Veteran Hiplife artiste Okyeame Kwame says he has moved past the desire to stage large stadium concerts, despite the growing trend among musicians globally to headline and sell out such venues.
Speaking on Talk To Kula on May 4, 2026, he reflected on how his priorities as an artiste have shifted over time. While he once aspired to that level of performance scale, he now values a quieter, more reflective life.
“When I was much younger, I wanted to do that, but now I’m happier sitting by a river and thinking to myself. That, for me, is more fulfilling than filling a stadium. I want to be happy. All things being equal, I have less than 50 years on earth, so I want to enjoy myself. I’m not about to carry on too many problems,” he said.
He was quick to add that he has not completely shut the door on the idea, but it no longer drives his ambitions.
“I am not interested in doing that. However, when it gets to a point where it is possible for me to do it, I won’t say I wouldn’t, but I’m not fixated on those things,” he stated.
For him, the focus has shifted toward purpose and influence rather than spectacle.
“I am more interested in impact, especially in Ghana, through the music, through learning new things, and through interacting with people who want to bring development into the country. That is more of my direction now.”
Across Ghana’s music scene, stadium concerts have become a defining milestone for top performers, with acts such as Medikal, Stonebwoy, Sarkodie, Fancy Gadam, and Shatta Wale among those who have successfully drawn massive crowds to sold-out stadium shows nationwide.
