Kumchacha Calls GH¢1 and GH¢2 Church Offerings “Wicked,” Explains His Reason

Prophet Kumchacha

Nicholas Osei, popularly known as Kumchacha, has renewed his call for church members to be more generous with their offerings, insisting that some congregants fail to appreciate the financial demands involved in running a church.

The founder and leader of Heaven’s Gate Ministries said people who attend churches with well-maintained facilities but contribute only GH¢1 or GH¢2 during offerings show a lack of consideration, describing such behaviour as “wicked.”

Speaking during an interview on Hitz FM on July 6, 2026, the outspoken preacher was asked about his previous remarks criticising the small amounts some worshippers give despite benefiting from church services and amenities.

Responding, Kumchacha acknowledged that people have different financial circumstances but argued that members should also take into account the expenses churches incur to provide a comfortable worship environment.

He explained that maintaining facilities such as air conditioners, clean surroundings, and other church infrastructure requires significant resources, which should influence how individuals decide what to contribute.

“Sometimes people should be considerate. When I say considerate, I mean that when you attend a church with air conditioning, see how tidy the church environment is kept, and then, after the service, it’s time to give an offering, and you give GH¢1 or GH¢2, then you are a wicked person,” Kumchacha averred.

Aside from the issue of church offerings, the Heaven’s Gate Ministries leader also opened up about his political choice in the 2024 general election, revealing that he voted for John Dramani Mahama and remains satisfied with that decision.

Kumchacha said his support for President Mahama is influenced not only by his political views but also by the former president’s personal qualities, describing him as humble, respectful, and easy to relate to.

“During the last part of his [Mahama] campaign, he met with some members of the clergy. I was among about 70 pastors he met. I am the president of that clergy association. I voted for the NDC. I like everything about John Mahama. I like the way he walks, his humility, the way he talks, everything about him is nice,” he disclosed.
