Ghanaian artiste Black Sherif emerged as the biggest winner at the 2026 Telecel Ghana Music Awards, taking home the coveted Artiste of the Year prize after an impressive run over the past year.
He edged out a strong lineup that included Medikal, Stonebwoy, Wendy Shay, Sarkodie, and Diana Hamilton.
The award capped off a standout period for the rapper and singer, whose album Iron Boy dominated conversations within Ghana’s music space and earned widespread praise from fans and critics alike.
Beyond the headline award, Black Sherif also collected several top honours on the night, including “Album of the Year,” “Songwriter of the Year,” “Hip-Hop Song of the Year,” and “Best Afropop Song.”
This latest triumph marks another milestone in his TGMA journey. The musician previously won Artiste of the Year at the 2023 edition of the awards, a moment many linked to the overwhelming success of songs like Kwaku the Traveller and his debut album The Villain I Never Was.
The 27th edition of the TGMAs celebrated achievements across more than 25 categories spanning gospel, highlife, hiplife, afrobeat, reggae/dancehall, and other genres within the Ghanaian music industry.
Several acts also enjoyed successful nights, with artistes such as AratheJay, Kofi Kinaata, and Moliy earning recognition in their respective categories.
Aside from the awards, the ceremony delivered a lively entertainment experience, with performances keeping the audience engaged throughout the evening. Sets from Samini, Chief One, Black Sherif, and music duo R2Bees drew huge reactions from patrons at the event.
