“They Said My Vitals Were in Code” – MzGee Opens Up About Life-Threatening Childbirth Experience

MzGee

Media personality MzGee has shared a deeply personal account of the health scare she faced after welcoming her son, revealing that doctors warned her she had reached a critical stage following childbirth.

Speaking at the second edition of her Convergence of Mothers initiative, she recounted how medical professionals urgently intervened after her blood levels dropped to a dangerously low point, leaving her in need of an emergency blood transfusion.

“They said my vitals were in code,” she recalled.

MzGee admitted that despite the severity of her condition, she was initially reluctant to undergo treatment. Alongside the physical challenges, she also found herself struggling with emotions she had never anticipated as a new mother.

“At that moment, I felt awkward towards my son,” she said.

The broadcaster explained that it was only after opening up to other women who had gone through motherhood that she realised her experience was not unusual. Conversations with friends helped her understand that many mothers quietly navigate similar feelings after giving birth.

“Having conversations with a lot of my friends who are mothers, I realised it seems to be a normal place for a lot of people,” she said.

According to MzGee, society often presents an incomplete picture of motherhood, focusing largely on joyful moments while overlooking the realities women face once a child arrives.

“They only show the smiles and excitement around having a child. But nobody talks about the mother’s life after childbirth,” she said.

She indicated that this lack of open discussion inspired the creation of Convergence of Mothers, a platform designed to encourage honest conversations and shared experiences among women.

“I felt like I wanted to do something with mothers for mothers. Let’s hear stories from mothers. Let’s see what yesterday’s mothers can tell these daughters.

“Yes, we want to raise our children, but we will not die within our children.

Can we help ourselves? Yes, we can. Do we have the information? It helps to discuss it,” MzGee stated.
